Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce January 2010 :: Produced Branding for Tennessee State Bowling Proprietors Association

I was happy to work once again with Roy Baudoin of Smyrna Bowling Center, who also acts as President of the TSBPA to create a new business identity for the organization. In addition to a striking (no pun intended) new logo design, we applied the new logo to the business papers for the TSBPA to give mailings and such to its members a separate identity from that of the Smyrna Bowling Center. This is an excellent mark and I have been happy to assist Roy in creating something singular for its members to identify with.

As a member of the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce, I have found new strength as I continue to build my brand and my business, being introduced to excellent clients and interacting with the business leadership of Rutherford County's brightest companies. In 2010, I am extending my involvement with the Chamber, acting in a volunteer capacity with the Chamber as one of it's Diplomats. I expect the enhanced involvement with the Chamber will create more exposure and business activity for JK Design this year.

Smyrna Bowling Center is the largest most modern bowling center in the state of Tennessee. I had the recent pleasure of meeting owner Roy Baudoin at a Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce event being held at the Smyrna Bowling Center facility. They will be receiving a new web design. In addition to the web design, we are giving their corporate identity, or logo a facelift in the process, to help create stronger brand awareness. The logo can be seen at left. As a result of the new corporate identity's creation, we are giving their business papers a matching facelift.

King's Funeral Planning May 2009 :: Announcing new client, King's Funeral Planning

King's Funeral Planning is a startup that I am now working with to assist in branding their company. To start, we have produced their logo mark which figures prominently into the design of a beautiful tri fold brochure which will be their primary first marketing vehicle. I am very excited to assist this company in creating their branding and marketing materials as they get of the ground. All the more so, as the company is the brain child of Jessica and Karen King, my own niece and sister. I wish them much success, and look forward to assisting them with their future marketing needs.

Her new logo is also finding its way to the front page of her web site. JD Designs has received awards for work in Parade of Homes. Jennifer prides her company on being able to work with any design budget. Give her web site a look.

Relaunched JK Design | Graphic Communications web site. This brings a great deal of work to fruition. Main Street McMinville April 2008 :: Illustrated Identity Piece for Main Street McMinnville

I am happy to announce the completion of a project in which I got to collaborate with my dear friend Rita Frizzell of Dakini Graphics. When the fine folks behind the down town revitalization project in McMinnville, TN needed a new identity, they came to Dakini Graphics. Rita saw an opportunity for my skills to help fill the bill, and tapped me to handle the illustration work. Congratulations to Main Street McMinnville on their new design.

Avant-Guards / BlackguardsMarch 2008 :: Expanded Web Design Capabilities; PHP & My SQL Interactive Application Project

Went live with a interactive web application for online gaming group The Avant-Guards / Blackguards. This expansive, pro bono project afforded me the opportunity to learn two programming languages that allow a web interface to speak to a back end data base. The net result is an application that allows users to dynamically insert and retrieve vast amounts of information regarding this online social group's primary resource: it's members. It incidentally also stands as what is most likely the most advanced membership accomplishment tracking system of its kind for any group within the massively multi-player online role playing game, City of Heroes™.

Smyrna High School - Class of '87 Reunion Book CoverAugust 2007 :: Smyrna High School Class of '87 Reunion Book

I designed the reunion book for my 20 year reunion. I was very pleased to be able to offer my classmates a keepsake that will I hope they will treasure for years to come. It represents a level of design work which a high school reunion committee budget would not be able to normally afford. It now resides proudly in my portfolio of work.

Middle Tennessee State UniversityAugust 2007 :: Received B.F.A. in Graphic Design from MTSU

I am now a proud alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University. The odyssey of completion of my undergraduate degree did not take a traditional course, and I am both the wiser for it, and perhaps more appreciative than I might have been at a younger age. I want to give sincere thanks to my professors for guiding me and teaching me, and helping to make my design skills strong. I also have to thanks my Mom for poking me about returning. I know somewhere she is smiling and very proud.

(internship — Dakini Graphics)

The design on the sets of business papers were quite daring. While they were not those chosen for print and usage by the companies, I was very proud that Rita felt that they were strong enough to put in front of one of her higher profile clients for consideration.
